Torbay

Coastal
Walk Leader
Janet Haines
Sunday, October 1, 2023 - 14:00

We will cover any area around Torbay.  This may include the harbours at Torquay or Brixham, beaches or coves from Thatchers Point to Berry Head.

There are rock pools, rocky outlooks, sandy beaches, shingle beaches and harbours for both leisure and commercial.  All the usual seafront amusements, beach huts and shops full of tat. Few tourist will remain by the date of this walk though.

The time has been set to take advantage of the falling tide and potentially the golden hour. 15.00 to 19.00bst.

Evening golden hour 18.30 – 17.00

Sunset is 18.36 bst

High tide is 14.42 and low tide 19.44

Walk Location

Torbay

Walk Directions

The meeting point is harbour side of the Princess Theatre at Teatro café, on the main Torquay seafront – Torbay Road A379. Street parking and pay machines all along the seafront.

We will meet for a briefing (and H&S) at 14.00 and then members of the group will disperse around the bay as they feel inclined.  This may mean getting into your car and travelling around the bay to your chosen shooting location.  For this reason we will not therefore reassemble at any time and members are free to leave as and when they feel the need, but letting the walk leader know for H&S reasons.

Given the considerable area we are covering this group can easily facilitate 20 photographers.

Accessibility

Much can be reached and photographed from seafront roads and esplanades.  Equally there are areas that require walking over rough and often steep inclines.
