A walk down to Nanjizal beach from the Porthgwarra road.

Nanjizal has lots of photo opportunities. It is a mainly rocky cove, with some sand at low tide. The sand moves around in storms so sometimes there is more sand than at other times. There are rock formations, rock pools, caves, a cleft in the rock, a waterfall and from the cliffs there are wider landscape views over towards Land End.

The walk down takes about 30 minutes, partly along a narrow path through an old lane and then down tracks to the beach. This path can get very muddy in wet weather. There are steps down to the beach. On the beach the terrain is quite rough, there are boulders that can be slippery in wet weather or close to the waterfall and rocks to clamber over to get to your chosen photographic spot. Altogether we will walk about 2 miles there and back. Please wear suitable shoes for clambering over rocks!

I suggest we stay about 2 hours or until everyone has finished, then walk back to the cars, so bring some snacks or a packed lunch. We could then drive a little further towards Lands End and visit the Apple Tree cafe at Trevescan which will be open for a late lunch or tea and cake.

Incidentally the path is good for blackberries so bring a box if you want to pick some at that time of the year!

Please be aware low tide on 13-09-23 is at 11.54 am, so please don't linger in caves as the tide comes in!
