South Gare is a promentary with a single road along the length of it. The harbour is known locally as Paddy's Hole. Images can be taken from the road but there are also tracks through the grasses and the opportunity to walk round the harbour and photograph the boats. The boatyard itself is quite interesting. There are a number of green Fishermen's Huts and a lighthouse at the end of the road as well as a shipwreck visible when the tide goes out. In the distance you can see the heavy industry of Hartlepool and Teesport plus the wind turbines out in the North Sea. There are lots of photographic opportunities and it is a unique place.
Good walking shoes are recommended. There are photo opportunities from the road itself but for those wishing to venture further afield there are steps down to the harbour and onto the dunes and beach.
