This walk will begin at the southern end of Princes Dock and progress alternatively along the Liverpool Waterfront and the canal side. It will take in the lock entrance to the underground extension and the walk will progress to the Liverpool Pierhead, that will include the Three Graces, the Ferry Terminal and the Museum of Liverpool. Here the canal is exposed in places before it locks out into Canning Dock.
From here there are several ways of following the canal route that maybe decided at the time. Whichever way is decided the walk will take in Salthouse, Royal Albert, Kings, Queens, Dukes and finally Brunswick Dock where the canal locks out into the River Mersey. Whilst Liverpool has become a tourist destination there are many opportunities to photograph cityscapes, waterscapes and river views.

The group will meet near the junction of James Street and The Strand. The nearest main train station is Liverpool Lime Street with an interchange to Merseyrail Liverpool James Street. There isn't any on-street car parking near the venue but there is a Q car park (Liverpool One) with an entrance on Strand Street. Once assembled we will cross The Strand and walk through St Nicholas Place to the southern end of Princes Dock where the extension of the canal begins. From there the walk begins.
The walk is mainly on paved, level ground. In places there are cobbled areas where care needs to be taken. The total walk should not be longer than 10 kilometres. There toilets at the Royal Albert Dock. There are many restaurants and outdoor stalls, however as the Liverpool Waterfront is a tourist area prices are high and I would suggest bringing own refreshments
