The walk will be along the Teign river gorge, starting and finishing at the Fingle Bridge Inn. You will be walking very near the river and seeing plenty of autumn scenery as there are woods on both sides, and there are plenty of small rapids and falls in the translucent river. Photographers will have a choice of either doing the full walk up the river on one side, over a bridge and back the other side, or of sticking with either the easier and flatter side (the Forester's Track) or the slightly more rugged track (the Fisherman's Path) and doing an "out and back" walk on the selected side. The main challenge on the Fisherman's path is that there is quite a steep part up and down steps, albeit with handrails. In any case, reasonably good footwear suitable for earthy/stony paths is required and of course there is always the risk of slippery mud and stones if you want to go right down to the riverside. The full walk is around 4 miles but, depending on conditions and time spent on photographic opportunities, it's often attractive just to stay on one side or the other, but we can discuss that on the day and make our own choices. This is a well-know Dartmoor walk and there is more detail on the National Trust and other sites if you search for "Teign Gorge Walk".

We will start and finish at the Fingle Bridge Inn near Drewsteignton, EX6 6PW and there is plenty of parking near the Inn. This is an all-day pub that even does cream teas, so we'll be finishing up there.
The terrain is almost all reasonably well maintained paths, which can become more muddy when wet. One of the walking options is more or less level and easy going, while the other option has some short but sharp ups and downs, albeit using stone steps with hand-rails. Since we start and finish at the same point, it is entirely up to photographers how far they wish to go, with the full tour being around 4 miles.
