Pitmuies Gardens

Parks and Gardens
Walk Leader
Jayne Ferguson
Monday, April 14, 2025 - 10:00
Capacity
10

The gardens comprise:

  • Walled Kitchen Garden with some very old apple and pear trees and two quinces
  • Formal Garden with herbaceous borders
  • Beyond the gardens are walks in four main areas - the Vinny Walk, the Policy Field, the Black Loch and the Woodland Garden with magnificent trees and rhododendrons

There are plenty of photo opportunities with an extensive and diverse collection of plants within the gardens but also including old stone buildings and stone statues. There is an unusual turreted doo'cot, a 'Gothick' wash house built over 200 years ago as a laundry for the house, farm steadings, two stone bridges a Pictish stone and the house.

There should be masses of spring bulbs and spring flowers such as hellebores.

Entrance is £5.00 - Honesty Box is located inside garden gate so cash is needed.

Toilets are located in the in the Kitchen Garden (no disabled loos). There is no cafe but picnics are welcome, and there are tables by the Black Loch so weather permitting bring a flask for a hot drink and snack/sandwich. Sturdy footwear required.

There is a carpark.
