Fountains Abbey

Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal is a World Heritage Site managed by the National trust, covering more than 800 acres including some 70 acres of Abbey ruins, the 18th-century Studley Royal water garden, a mediaeval Deer park and several notable walks through the estate varying from 2 to 5 miles.

The site has the largest monastic ruins in the country, together with picturesque water gardens and Deer park, providing many photographic opportunities, including monastic ruins, landscaped water gardens with sculptures and follies, wildlife & woodland.

It is planed to follow a walking trail of some 3.5miles through mostly easy walking, though some moderate hills will be encountered. There will be alternative routes available. It is recommended that you use walking boots and have suitable waterproof clothing available.

During National trust opening hours there are refreshment facilities and adequate free car parking on site. National trust and English Heritage members entry cost is free, and adult tickets for non-members are approximately £21. - see details below

Please Note; While the main path between the visitor centre and the Abbey are accessible, many boundary trails include steps, narrow gates, and steep gradients unsuitable for standard wheelchairs.
