STOP PRESS:
I did this walk the other day and we are going to have to change the route slightly.....WE WILL STILL MEET AT THE SAME PLACE.
We are going to have to aviod the boggy area and boardwalk. The reason being the boardwalk is broken in places and there is now a tree fallen over it in place that I had to crawl under.
Also the Forestry Commission is contuning its felling programme, so there are more areas of heathland now....but still plenty of woodland for us to photograph. Here are some images I took on 11th September 2024, so you can see what to expect.
Dunwich Forest has a mix of coniferous and broadleaved woodland, plus boggy sections and heathland.
We will walk from the meeting point down to a stream (there is quite a steep decline, but it is manageable) through the wooded part, then onto heathland. All along the route there are plenty of opportunities for woodland photography.
The walk is timed to end near sunset - participants will be able to spot out suitable locations for where they will like to be at this time.
I have booked stunning light (fingers crossed)!

The meeting point is at Fredericks Mount Car Park, Westleton, Saxmundham IP17 3EF
This is a free car park. There are usually ample spaces. This will be the walk start and finish point. This is a popular place for dog walkers and horse riders.
There are no toilets, but plenty of bushes!
Many of the paths are accessible although there are some steep inclines.
Appropriate footwear essential. It will be very wet in places.
The terrain around the car park is quite flat and well maintained. Those that may struggle with inclines, should still be able to find suitable areas close to the car park to photograph.
