Join me for a 3 hour circular walk of Skipton Castle Woods; an ancient woodland managed by the Woodland Trust. We begin from Skipton Town centre ('The Gateway to the Dales'), walk along the Springs Branch of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, under the ramparts of Skipton Castle, and to the canopy of the woodland.
Skipton is an historic market town with a fantastic choice of local cafés. After the walk we'll take refreshments and talk about our experiences of making photographs among the trees. There will be a later online discussion for participants to share three of their favourite images from the work.
You can take a virtual tour of Skipton Castle Woods on the woodland trust's website.

Meet in Coach Street car park (Coach Street, Skipton, BD23 1LH) at 10am to begin the walk. Wait outside the Coffee House café in the car park. There are ample spaces available for those who are driving. The car park is a 10 minute walk from Skipton train station, which has a regular train service to Leeds and Bradford. It is also a 6 minute walk from Skipton bus station, which has direct local services and connected services to Lancashire towns en route to Burnley.
While the wood is not fully accessible, there are well maintained paths and it is possible to enjoy a photo walk using paths on level ground, avoiding the hill climbs. The walk requires a reasonable degree of mobility as it includes some steps and a narrow canal path.
The walk is limited to 7 people because of the narrow access along the canal path.
