City of London architecture images from Barbican & Financial district

Starting outside the entrance to the Barbican underground we will walk through the Barbican Estate, one of the largest examples of the Brutalist style of Architecture in the country, before moving on past the Guildhall to the financial district of the city with its mixture of classic and modern architecture.

The walk will be under 2 miles in distance allowing plenty of time for photography. The photography will all be outside the buildings and has not been designed with the use of tripods in mind.

A map of the route will be available before the walk and I will also post a live location showing where I am on a WhatsApp group during the walk.

The walk will finish outside Aldgate station where people can either leave to go home or join me for a well earned drink/food in a local pub.

I will invite you to join a WhatsApp group before the walk, if you accept you will be giving some contact details to the others in order that we can inform each other of our whereabouts travelling to and on the route. If you don’t use/wish to use WhatsApp, no problem, just ignore any invitations to join.

Walk Directions

We will meet outside the Barbican underground station at 10:45 for an 11:00am start. Barbican station is on the Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines. The walk will finish at Aldgate underground which is also on the Circle and Metropolitan lines. This event is in central London and parking will be difficult and expensive, it is also inside the congestion charge area, With different start and finish locations at stations and bearing in mind the above, public transport is by far the best option.

Accessibility

The walk will be under 2 miles in distance allowing plenty of time for photography. It will be mostly flat and firm underfoot however there will be small sets of stairs/steps on the route.
