This is A Circular walk mainly on forestry tracks. You will need strong footwear on your feet,
Although this is a Forestry England coniferous forest there are a large variety of plants, perhaps closeup photography.
Along one of the tracks you get clear views of the Cheviot Hills. There is also a number of views of North Northumberland towards the coast.
It may also be possible to visit a historical cave.

From Newcastle go north up the A1 and at the end of the Morpeth bypass turn left on the A697
and follow this for 13 miles. Shortly after the Rothbury Alnwick crossroads the A697 swings right. Go straight on along a minor road to Thrunton Woods. The car park is at the far end of the woods (an old brickwork quarry is down to the right.
