The town-and-country walk explores the most intact 16th to 18th-century village of Culross. The walk begins from the Balgownie West Car Park and takes you through the quaint cobbled wynds with many historic buildings, including the Culross Palace. There is a fee to enter the palace and garden. However, it's free for National Trust of Scotland members.
After leaving the palace, the walk takes you past the Town House with its unusual tower, then over to the Mercat Cross, and up a steep street to the Culross Abbey. Next, it's over to the ruins of the West Kirk, a spooky, isolated, ruined church and graveyard. Then down to the Dunimarle Castle.
The Dunimarle Castle estate has several gardens, including the Terrace Walk, a castellated wall with towers serving as stokeholes, and a glasshouse. Entry to the palace is via a paid guided tour. Then it's a walk along the Firth of Forth with views of the Longannet Power Station and smoking stacks of the Grangemouth oil refinery, past the pier (high tide around 13:3o), ending at a local cafe for a quick catch-up.
The entire walk is 3km. Terrain: pavements, field tracks (occasionally muddy) and cobbled streets, which can be unsuitable for those with limited mobility. Please wear walking shoes suitable for field tracks and uneven surfaces.

Walk Directions
The meeting location is the Balgownie West Car Park (free), KY12 8JL. The toilets are situated between the car park and the play park.
The walk then proceeds into Culross, up to the Abbey, over to the West Kirk, down to the Dunimarle Castle, along the Firth of Forth, a quick chat at a local cafe, and back to the carpark.
