The walk will begin at St Andrew's Cathedral (Gothic revival, mid 19th Century, architect , Alexander Ross). It was built as part of the revival of the Scottish Episcopal Church and opened for worship in 1869. It was the first cathedral to be consecrated after the reformation. The older cathedrals of Elgin and Fortrose are now ruined and Dornoch is used by the Church of Scotland. We can then look at neighbouring Eden Court theatre (1970s). A short walk away is Inverness Town House (1882 architect William Lawrie) and Abertarff House (1593) unfortunately closed until Easter. we can return to the cathedral area via the riverside.
We can meet for refreshment at the Cathedral cafe or Nearby Palace Hotel. (To be determined later)
Admission to the cathedral is by donation and £2 is suggested.
Parking is easier at Eden Court, (£3 for 4 hours), but there may be some places next to the cathedral. However, the cost is the same and it's not far away.

Walk Directions
It is proposed to meet at the cathedral porch. IV3 55NN. on the Bishop's Rd side (east), facing the river. We can walk around the outside and then go inside . Unless the weather has other ideas. and we can adapt. For contrast , we can look at the exterior of Eden court theatre close by.
We can pause for refreshment at this point, or by agreement with the group. We will then progress along to the bridge and up to the Town House, which was recently refurbished. At the time of writing it is not known if we can go inside, but it advertises Thursday afternoons as the time for tours. Unfortunately Inverness Castle is closed for refurbishment at the present time or this would have been included. I have added Abertarff House to extend the walk and include the river and bridges, but we can only view the exterior. It is the oldest house in Inverness (1593) and is B listed. An interesting feature is the crow stepped gables.
Accessibility
The walk is level from the car park at Eden Court to the cathedral , The cathedral is accessible with accessible toilets. There are slight inclines over the Bridge but nothing too strenuous.
