This is a walk that starts at Folkestone Harbour and moves onto the arches of Folkestone before finishing on Sunny Sands, the famous beach in Folkestone. We are meeting at 1030, which is 35 minutes before low tide.
Folkestone Harbour offers many photographic opportunities, with an iconic harbour arm and lighthouse, and views out to sea and of course back to Folkestone itself. Long exposure images can be very effective on the harbour arm and also minimalist images of the lighthouse.
From the Harbour, it is an easy walk to the arches, which will all be accessible due to the low tide. The boats in the harbour will be on their side due to the low tide as we walk to the arches. Photographing through the arches is very popular and so are views of the sea framed by the arches.
From the arches, it is another easy walk to Sunny Sands Beach itself. This offers great views from above the beach and because the tide will be coming in, interesting images of the tidal flows at the water's edge.
I would estimate the distance we will cover to be 1.5-2.0 miles. If the weather is good then ordinary walking shoes/trainers will be fine. If it's wet then maybe walking boots would be more suitable. If we stop around 12.30 for a snack, then I would estimate we will finish by around 1500.
