Leicester Canals

Discover a quieter, more atmospheric side of Leicester on this urban photowalk exploring the canals and waterways that weave through the city.

Leaving the busy streets behind, we'll follow the canal through a changing urban landscape of old industrial buildings, bridges, narrowboats, towpaths and modern developments. It's an ideal setting for photographers who enjoy looking beyond the obvious and finding strong images in everyday surroundings.

This isn't about rushing from one landmark to another. We'll take our time, explore the canal environment and look for those smaller, easily missed moments that can turn an ordinary urban scene into an interesting photograph.

Expect canals, bridges, urban textures, reflections and a few photographic surprises along the way.

It will be about 2 miles of walking on mostly even paths but some stepped areas are involved.
