Eglinton Country Park map

Eglinton Country Park offers a number of varied routes across a large area.

My suggested route is via The Heritage Trail where you can take in the sights of the ruined Eglinton Castle, Eglinton Loch and Tournament Bridge.

There are a number of different areas of woodland, from mature broadleaf with bracken to dense coniferous woodland with the River Garnock providing some additional interest as it winds its way through the park. Keep your eyes out for some of the wildlife that occupies the park, including deer, kingfishers and buzzards.

We will return to the Visitor Centre at lunchtime to enjoy some lunch in the dog-friendly cafe before heading back out into the park.

Walk Location

Walk Directions

We'll meet at 10am in the main car park at the Visitor's Centre which has ample parking available.

Accessibility

The park is a mixture of hard standing pathways, gravel tracks and dirt tracks.  Waterproof walking shoes or boots or wellingtons are advisable as some areas can become boggy.

You can find many points of photographic interest within a 1km radius of the visitor's centre. If you wish to trek further, there is a route around the park that will take anything between 2-4 hours, dependent on how many photographic stops you might make.
