Architecture and the Built Environment covers all human made buildings and structures from the present day back to ancient times, from cities to rural locations.

We are offering walks in 40 locations around the UK and will include international members shooting in their neighbourhoods.

You may wish to consider different approaches to photographing the built environment such as:

  • Cityscapes (i.e., big views of built environments)
  • "Portraits" of buildings (or groups of buildings)
  • Architectural details
  • Abstracts
  • Literal vs creative or artistic portrayals

Potential subject examples include:

  • Modern and contemporary architecture
  • Historical buildings or streets
  • Ancient monuments
  • Online TALK with Mark Reeves FRPS 19 February 2024
  • WALKs 20 February to 31 March 2024
  • TALK discussions during April

Following the final TALKs in April there will be an online gallery of images and an e-Zine will be produced to celebrate the work of the participants.

Mark Reeves FRPS is a founder member of the RPS Landscape Group and a keen photographer of modern architecture. Although primarily an outdoor photographer, the creative potential of architectural abstracts will sometimes draw him inside to photograph interiors. Mark's successful ARPS panel combined images of both plants and buildings portrayed so as to illustrate their frequently similar structural forms. Apart from his work for the Landscape Group, Mark regularly gives talks to camera clubs, has a number of private students and runs occasional workshops for the RPS. Some of Mark's architectural work can be seen on his website at markreevesphotography.co.uk

Mark wrote an article for DIGIT 99: The Art of Convergence.
