A Garden

ButterflyIn this project, Molly will talk about the wide-ranging possibilities of photography in Parklands and Gardens, from ‘finding the image’ all the way through to the editing process and beyond.

She will discuss garden and park landscapes, plants and trees, birds and animals and flowers and insects – the latter from a more macro perspective. Additionally, she will explore other green spaces such as allotments, greenhouses, and balcony gardens. Emphasizing the significance of immersing oneself in nature, Molly will highlight how incorporating photography can enhance this experience, contributing to both personal well-being and creative fulfillment.

Molly is an award-winning photographer who specialises in flower, plant and insect photography, particularly close-up. She is a member of the Professional Garden Photographers Association (PGPA), the Guild of Photographers (with whom she won the ‘Flora and Plants’ category in 2021, the Insects category in 2022 and Overall Photographer of the Year in 2023) and the Societies of Photographers (she won the ‘Natural World - Botanical and Fungi’ category in 2023).

She has also won many awards in the International Garden Photographer of the Year competition, Close Up Photographer of the Year and in 2021 won the ‘Plants’ category of the RHS Photographic Competition. In 2022 and 2023 she was delighted to be crowned Garden Photographer of the Year – Portfolio Category by the Garden Media Guild at the awards ceremony in London, alongside Alan Titchmarsh, Carole Klein and Adam Frost and many more famous faces from the garden industry.

She is passionate about photographing flowers, plants and gardens at all times of the year and believes that encouraging others to visit gardens as a result of seeing her photos and writing can only be a good thing, and in particular can make a positive difference to mental health.

Her book, Creative Flower and Plant Photography, is published with the Crowood Press and available from all good bookshops and Amazon. She also writes articles for the photographic press, such as Amateur Photographer magazine.

Molly lives in East Kent with Ross and her two boys and loves gardening and walking in gardens and the countryside.
